Rights and Responsibilities

Each new student/staff/faculty member will be issued a UCR ID Card. This card is intended to serve you throughout your duration at UC Riverside. A fee of $25.00 will be charged when acquiring a UCR ID card for the first time. The UCR ID Card entitles the cardholder to all privileges associated with their status. Rights and privileges associated with the UCR ID Card are contingent upon active status as a student, faculty, or staff member. It is the cardholder's responsibility to protect and maintain the condition of their card. A replacement fee of $20.00 will be required if any UCR ID Card is lost, stolen, or damaged. It is the responsibility of the UCR Card Account Holder to monitor their account balance. The cardholder is responsible for immediately reporting lost or stolen cards to the UCR Card Office at (951) 827-CARD or by logging on to our website at www.ucrcard.ucr.edu. UCR is not responsible for the use of any lost or stolen cards. Your UCR ID Card is the property of UCR and the use of this card may be revoked at any time. Your UCR ID Card can also be confiscated by an agent of the University if the card is deemed as being misused. For example: Your UCR ID Card is in the possession of an individual other than yourself and that person attempts to represent themselves as you. Returned checks are subject to all check collection procedures of the Student Business Office and a $21.75 fee.

Disclosure to Third Parties: in accordance with the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), your photograph is part of your educational record. As directory information, it can be released to campus officials for educationally related and university purposes. University of California, Riverside will not release the cardholder's photograph outside the institution, unless permitted or required by law, or with the cardholder's permission.

Error Resolution: If the cardholder suspects an error on a receipt or transaction, contact the UCR Card Office at 951-827-2273 or by email at www.ucrcard.ucr.edu. Contact must be made within 14 days of the transaction(s) in questions. Failure to request error resolution in a timely manner could result in the loss of a refund. When making a request for error resolution please furnish the following information:

  • Cardholder's name and ID number.
  • A description of the transaction in question and explanation of the discrepancy; as well as the dollar amount of the transaction in question.
  • Approximately when and where the error took place.
